The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has allocated nearly $3.8 million to North Dakota to support various energy-saving initiatives. The funding includes $2,452,161 designated for retrofit programs aimed at improving energy efficiency in buildings, as well as $311,906 through Weatherization Readiness Funds to prepare homes for weatherization services. An additional $544,548 is set aside for training and technical assistance.

According to the DOE, these grants are part of a broader approach under President Trump’s administration that excludes the consideration of the social cost of carbon and similar factors during the application process. This change is intended to ensure that limited grant funds directly meet program objectives.

The department also announced an award of $512,360 from State Energy Program funds to North Dakota. These resources are meant to enhance energy reliability and security while providing cost savings for both businesses and residents.
