The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced around $1 billion in disaster recovery assistance for livestock producers affected by wildfires and floods during 2023 and 2024. The funding is being provided through the Emergency Livestock Relief Program (ELRP).
This new allocation represents the second round of funding included in a continuing resolution that Senator Kevin Cramer supported in December, bringing the total available to $2 billion.
“Thank you to President Trump and Secretary Rollins for delivering this second batch of funding to our producers,” said Senator Cramer. “Initiatives like the Emergency Livestock Relief Program offer critical assistance to our producers impacted by disasters.”
Livestock producers located in counties with qualifying disasters do not need to submit supporting documentation. In North Dakota, eligible counties include Bowman, Dunn, Golden Valley, McIntosh, McKenzie, McLean, Oliver, Sioux, and Williams. Producers who experienced losses in other counties can still apply but must provide evidence that a qualifying flood or wildfire occurred where their livestock were or would have been if not for the disaster.
Applications are open from September 15 through October 31. More information about accessing this funding is available on the USDA website.
