North Dakota Department of Transportation issued the following announcement on March 31.
Jerry Mathern, winner of the North Dakota Department of Transportation’s (NDDOT) Name-A-Plow contest for the Valley City District, got his opportunity to see the plow he named Orange Thunder, in person. Mathern chatted with NDDOT snowplow operator Jud Reed and others from the Valley City District team about snowplows and NDDOT. He was given a tour of the facility, including the office and other buildings. He also had the opportunity to do a short ride-along. In the NDDOT’s inaugural Name-a-Plow contest, over 800 submissions were collected from North Dakotans around the state to name one snowplow from each of the departments eight districts.
