Minot Area Chamber of Commerce: Air Force’s new intercontinental ballistic missile system has a name: Sentinel

E

Minot Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on April 7.

Today the United States Air Force unveiled the name of the new intercontinental ballistic missile system, Sentinel.

The Sentinel will not just be a new missile but a fully integrated launch, flight and infrastructure system with modern command and control features. It will backstop our Nation’s integrated deterrence and provide the bedrock for a stable international order for our partners and allies.

Existing missile bases, F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, Malmstrom AFB, Montana, and Minot AFB, North Dakota, will be home to the new system. Using infrastructure at current locations will allow both the Minuteman III and Sentinel weapons systems to continue meeting all nuclear surety and safety standards during the transition period.
