The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced a funding award of $1,906,102 for airport projects in North Dakota. This financial support comes from the Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) program and will be allocated to several airports across the state.

The City of Minot is set to receive $1,000,000 for reconstructing 1,500 feet of the existing airport firefighting, rescue building, and hangar access road. The Washburn Municipal Airport Authority will obtain $322,254 to develop a new 200-foot taxilane midfield aimed at providing airfield access to a nonexclusive hangar development area.

Additionally, the Barnes County Municipal Airport Authority is awarded $250,000 for the final reconstruction of an existing lighting vault building and equipment. The Oakes Municipal Airport Authority will use its $225,000 allocation to replace one existing airport rotating beacon.

Lastly, the Cando Municipal Airport Authority will receive $108,848 to reseal 4,433 square yards of North Apron pavement and joints, along with 450 feet of Taxiway A pavement and joints and 466 feet of Taxilane East pavement and joints. This work aims to extend the useful life of these infrastructures.

The AIG Program was created under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to support airport modernization and safety projects. To date, airports in North Dakota have been beneficiaries of over $49 million through this program.
