The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced a significant funding award of over $31 million to various airports across North Dakota. This funding is part of the Airport Improvement Program (AIP), which supports airport planning, capital, and safety enhancement projects nationwide.
The Bismarck Municipal Airport will receive $10,325,656 for several improvements including reconstructing lighting on Taxiway D and connectors, rehabilitating pavement, and enhancing runway safety areas. Fargo's Hector International Airport is set to receive two separate grants: $10 million for apron construction and reconstruction of terminal apron pavement, and $3,409,869 for terminal expansion with four new gates.
Other allocations include $1,317,035 to Cooperstown Municipal Airport Authority for taxilane construction and runway rehabilitation; $1,266,560 to Cavalier Municipal Airport Authority for runway rehabilitation; and $1,121,492 to Langdon Municipal Airport Authority for taxiway construction.
Further funds are designated as follows: Wahpeton Airport Authority will get $818,010 for new taxiway lighting; City of Mohall will receive $676,540 for drainage improvements; Lakota Airport Authority will obtain $626,848 for apron reconstruction; Grafton Municipal Airport Authority will be granted $335,781 for hangar construction.
Additional smaller grants include allocations to Adams County Airport Authority ($300,000), Kenmare Airport Authority ($300,000), Watford City Municipal Airport Authority ($300,000), Tioga Municipal Airport Authority ($207,736), Walhalla Municipal Airport Authority ($150,126), and Mercer County Regional Airport Authority ($100,043) for various infrastructure enhancements.
